Tour 1. 16 days, begins in Bhuj, in Kutch, in the far west of India and explores the different embroidery styles of this semi-arid pastoral land. We then fly to Varanasi, an ancient and sacred Hindu city on the edge of the River Ganges and learn about the luscious silk brocade weaving that the people in the villages near Varanasi have developed over 600 years. Our bus takes us to Lucknow where we see the delicate chican embroidery work that thousands of women in that city have turned in to an economy-based art form. We finish our tour in Delhi, the grand capital city, a shopping delight, and from here we have a day trip to the legendary Taj Mahal.
