Colour India

Photography tour

“My trip to India with Liz as tour leader was just wonderful - completely different to what I was expecting and a complete culture shock but a trip that I would totally recommend. The itinerary she designed took us to some magnificent photography locations - and it was very special that we were often the only tourists in the area - there were many 'pinch me' moments! The people of India were kind, warm, trustworthy and genuinely lovely. What a pleasure to mingle with them on a daily basis. Any changes that had to be made to our itinerary (due to weather and the vagaries of travel) were dealt with on the spot and in a totally professional manner. Her knowledge of the areas that we visited, along with all her helpful tips made for a great holiday - and one that I will never forget. Put a trip to India on your bucket list and make that trip with Liz and Colour India.”

"I was one of a group of 9 photographers who went with Liz a tour that was specially designed around photography. I had always wanted to go to India but had been put off by other’s negative comments and my concern with spending valuable time being sick! When I saw Liz was running a specific photography tour, and that she had been to India many times, I felt very comfortable signing up for the trip.

“The tour was amazing. I loved the vibrant colours, the delightful people and the insight into Indian culture. Liz ensured we were always in the right place at the right time enabling us to make the most of every photographic opportunity. We went into areas off the tourist route and were able to see the real India. One of the many highlights was going to Kashmir, which was quite a contrast to the rest of India, and staying on Lake Dahl in one of the beautiful old houseboats and driving into the snow-capped mountains.

“Liz and her team, from the bus drivers and excellent guides, along with backup from the Delhi office, provided us with a great Indian experience. It was a wonderful photographic tour and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys photography and is thinking of going to India. Don’t hesitate. Join Liz and have an amazing photographic adventure."

“Liz Light was a delightful tour leader for our photography trip to Northern India in March 2017. She brought a wealth of local knowledge with her and the organisation of the tour was excellent. We certainly got to see the Real India. Liz and her extensive experience made the entire adventure enjoyable and rewarding.

“I would highly recommend any tour that Liz leads.”

"Our trip to India was awesome. I loved the variety in the places we visited and Holi festival was a blast.

I especially loved the village near Namrada Gorge. I skipped dinner the first evening and spent a few hours strolling about the village alone with my camera; kids flying homemade kites, animals roaming everywhere, fabulous light, friendly people, and some really awesome photos.

Another place that was totally amazing was the village near to our accommodation at Bandhavgarh. It was so beautiful and rural, people just getting on with their daily business, and really happy to be photographed.
The Safaris in the national park were fun too; lots of tiger spotting (3 sightings) and crazy-fun drivers!

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Kolkata. The guide was amazing, and I loved all the things we went to see...things that would be too hard to find without his guidance. The laundry was amazing.

“It was fabulous to be amongst all that colour and chaos of India.”

"I really fell for India. It is so diverse and colourful. I felt safe the whole time and the people were always friendly.

"I loved Bandavgarh National Park; it wasn’t something I was particularly looking forward to. I like animals but it is not my kind of photography. But it’s so beautiful and the Gypsy rides were such fun. Also, I liked the accommodation there; my kind of quirky.

My favourite accommodation was in Varanasi. I loved that little hotel and Kamal, our host, could not have been kinder or more flexible. A highlight, in Varanasi, was the visit to our guide’s home and meeting his lovely family.

“The big unexpected love for me was Kolkata. When we first drove in I thought, “OMG, I’m not going to like this place.” It seemed so poor and confronting but I loved it. The hotel was in a great spot but what made it for me was our guide Samik. Such a kind, gentle humanitarian, with a sense of humour whose passion for his city rubbed off on me. I really appreciated all the places he took us to and he listened to us and quickly learnt what we liked to photograph.””
